Gerrard: Every Derby game is a ‘must-win.’

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has labelled every derby as a ‘must-win’ ahead of his side’s clash with Celtic this weekend.

Rangers meet their city rivals at Ibrox on Saturday lunchtime, knowing a win will put them level with Brendan Rodger’s side at the top of the Scottish Premier League.

Despite the tightness at the top of the division, Gerrard insists every derby should be considered a must-win irrespective of the side’s league positions.

“I’ve never, ever played in a derby that hasn’t been must-win,” said Rangers boss after his sides 1-1 draw with Hibs.

“If we were sitting above Celtic right now, I’d be saying it’s must-win”.

“So every game against Celtic is must-win. No one should really ever ask a Rangers manager if an Old Firm game is must-win because you are only going to get one answer.”

Connor Goldson is an injury doubt for Rangers after he limped off in the 1-1 draw with Hibs on Boxing Day, whilst there are also fitness concerns over Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Gareth McAuley.
