Gerrard confirms he’s made contact with Liverpool about Ryan Kent signing

Steven Gerrard has confirmed Rangers have made contact with Liverpool regarding the signing of Ryan Kent.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an excellent season on-loan at Ibrox, being named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year after scoring six league goals for the club.

Kent is one of several players who could depart Anfield this summer, as Liverpool look to make £100m for selling fringe players to add to their transfer budget.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are believed to value the winger at around £12m, though Rangers would be unlikely to match that asking price.

Rangers could look to sign Kent on another loan deal, with Gerrard confirming the club have made Liverpool an offer.

“We’ve spoken to Liverpool, we’re in touch with Ryan’s representatives and we’ve made an offer,” Gerrard said after Rangers 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock.

“But there’s nothing to say on it or to confirm it. For our supporters, what I can do is guarantee that I’m doing everything I can to get him in for another season.”
