Germany XI vs Switzerland – Predicted lineup and team news

Germany faces Switzerland in a friendly on Friday as both nations step up their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Germany arrive in excellent shape, having won their last five World Cup qualifiers, including convincing victories over Slovakia (6–0), Luxembourg (2–0) and Northern Ireland (1–0), and they have kept four clean sheets in their last four competitive games.

Germany team news

Julian Nagelsmann will have to cope without several important names in this camp, with Jamal Musiala, Felix Nmecha and Aleksandar Pavlovic all sidelined.

Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig is also unavailable after pulling out of the squad on Thursday due to a capsular injury in his right knee, meaning he will sit out both the Switzerland clash and Monday’s meeting with Ghana as a precaution.

Nagelsmann has already outlined much of his planned XI for the Switzerland game. Nico Schlotterbeck and Jonathan Tah are due to start in central defence, with Antonio Rüdiger back in the squad for the first time since September following a hamstring problem.

In midfield, Angelo Stiller is set to partner Leon Goretzka in the absence of Pavlovic and Nmecha. Further forward, Kai Havertz is in line for his first Germany outing since November 2024 after recovering from a long-term injury.
