Gary Neville explains what qualities he likes about Man Utd's emerging left back Brandon Williams

Gary Neville has praised the battling mentality of young Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams following his latest impressive display.

The Manchester-born defender made a big contribution to his side’s win over Wolves, playing the full 90 minutes as United secured a 1-0 win and a place in the FA Cup fourth round, the youngster seemingly relishing his physical battle with Pedro Neto.

The 19-year-old left-back has broken through into the Manchester United first team this season, making 17 appearances in all competitions, and his attitude and performances have clearly impressed the Sky Sports pundit.

“I like Brandon Williams,” Neville wrote on Twitter. “What I like about him specifically is he has that look in his eye of someone that would eat his opponents nose to win the match. Keep going kid!

“Oh he can play football to which is always a bonus.”

The former United defender was renowned for his tough tackling, no-nonsense approach and has been critical of other players for not showing the required desire and commitment.

Williams, who has been at the Old Trafford club since 2017 but only made his debut this season, notched his first senior goal at Bramall Lane earlier this term, helping his side come back from 2-0 down to secure a 3-3 draw.
