The representatives of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes have reportedly flown to England for talks with two Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Everton said to be interested.
The Brazilian centre-back impressed for Lille in Ligue 1 last season, featuring in 24 of their 28 league games – keeping 11 clean sheets – before the French season was prematurely curtailed, the North Eastern side finishing fourth and narrowly missing out on next season’s Champions League.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, with Everton and Napoli most strongly linked in recent months, with it being reported that he even had a medical with the Merseyside club prior to the coronavirus lockdown.
Reports emerged on Thursday that Manchester United were also monitoring the defender, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already unwittingly announcing his desire to add a left-footed centre-back to his ranks.
Now, according to Sky Sports, the defenders representitives are ‘in the UK talking with two Premier League clubs about a potential move to England’, while reports in French newspaper La Voix du Nord claim that all three sides have now submitted a bid of €30 million (£27m) which is inclusive of bonuses.
They claim that while Napoli were initially the front runners for the Brazil U20 international, Manchester United’s qualification for the Champions League could give them the final say, with Sky Sports saying he will ‘decide his future in the next couple of days’.
Meanwhile, Lille have signed 20-year-old centre-back Sven Botman from Ajax, with it being suggested that he is viewed as Gabriel’s replacement.
