Fred: PSG win showed Manchester United’s ‘strength as a group.’

Manchester United midfielder Fred says the club’s historic win over Paris Saint-Germain shows the squad’s ‘strength as a group’.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s 3-1 win in Paris saw them become the first team in Champions League history to advance to the next round having lost the first leg at home by two or more goals.

Romelu Lukaku’s brace and Marcus Rashford’s late penalty saw United progress to the quarter finals on away goals, and Brazilian international Fred admits the win was ‘satisfying’ having been ‘written off’ ahead of the game.

”It is really satisfying and pleasing to get that victory on Wednesday because going into that game everyone had written us off and given up on us as if we had been beating,’’ Fred told manunited.com.

”So to get that victory and turn that around, congratulations need to go to the entire squad because we were missing a lot of players.

”Wednesday really demonstrated our strength as a group. We are really happy to be in the next round. It was a wondering, really satisfying and gratifying experience.”
