Former Germany and Bayern Munich captain Lothar Matthaus believes Liverpool have what it takes to go all the way in this years Champions League.
The Anfield outfit are due to face Manchester City in a mouth watering quarter-final tie next month.
Matthaus is Germany’s all-time leading appearance maker with 150 caps, and he has been massively impressed by the job his countryman Jurgen Klopp has done since taking over as Liverpool boss.
The 57-year-old believes Liverpool will go into their fixture against Pep Guardiola’s side full of confidence, and he thinks the Reds have a great chance of going on to lift the Champions League trophy in May.
“Liverpool is not afraid to play against Manchester City. They showed weeks ago how you can win against Manchester City,” Matthaus told the LFC Foundation.
“They have a good offence, they work better in the defence and this is the key to win titles.
“He has done a very good job. I was believing from the beginning that he and Liverpool have a very good relationship.
“You can see that in the good results, the good games and he has bought the right players.
“For me it is a team that can win the Champions League in two months in Kiev.”
