Player transfers are always an eagerly awaited part at the start of every season. However, the anticipation and mystery that surrounds future transfers are even more exciting. There is a sense of ‘will they or won’t they’ that lingers in the air, adding to the suspense and making every game all the more essential to analyse from the viewpoint of the footballers.
There are of course a number of reasons why players move clubs, from contract disputes, the promise of more football, or fallouts with the manager.
Here are some of the players that are rumoured to be in talks for a transfer soon:
There have been hints aplenty when it comes to Paul Pogba’s possible switch from Manchester United, with Barcelona and Juventus being touted as possible destinations.
Following France’s World Cup victory, the star footballer is in demand, and there has been rumours regarding a possible rift developing between him and manager Jose Mourinho.
Presently, Pogba has categorically said that his focus is on playing for Manchester United, but also mentions uncertainty about the future. It is pertinent to indicate that the bond between the player and the club has been healthy ever since the beginning, and in the end, all these shenanigans might not be anything serious at all.
The Mexican player made a significant impact during the World Cup in Russia which included scoring a winning goal against Germany in the group stage.
Presently with PSV Eindhoven, the 23-year-old is under the watchful eyes of Inter Milan, Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and even Manchester United. While the rumours are active with so much interest from major clubs, one must remember that he only signed a six-year contract with Eindhoven in 2017.
There is a lot of nitty-gritty involved in the process of transferring players that consists of contracts, transfer fees, lawyers, team management, coaches, and of course what the player eventually wants, so if anything will materialise is yet to be seen.
Everyone loves a free transfer, and as soon as a player becomes available because their contract is coming to an end, he automatically becomes a hot property with clubs trying to woo him left, right and centre.
Adrien Rabiot’s Paris Saint-Germain contract is nearing its end and as January’s transfer window approaches there are already talks of him working on deals with Barcelona and Liverpool. However, despite him being available for free next summer, the clubs who are genuinely interested in the French midfielder might make a move in January rather than waiting for the contract to end, to avoid losing him to another team.
The Ozil Shocker
The relationship between Unai Emery and Ozil hasn’t been the best since the Spanish coach started his tenure with Arsenal this year. Even though they have denied any problems, there has been a noticeable change in the behaviour between them both.
Rumours are now afloat that Mesut Ozil might be part of a swap deal between Arsenal and Manchester United. Mourinho, on the other hand, has a great track record of working with Ozil from the time he played for Real Madrid, and it won’t be all that surprising if he is willing to let go of Eric Bailly to get his one-time star player back.
