Everton XI vs Arsenal – Predicted lineup and team news

Everton travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to respond after their first Premier League defeat of the season.

Everton travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to respond after their first Premier League defeat of the season.

David Moyes’s side are eighth in the table with 10 points from seven matches, two wins, four draws and one defeat, a record bettered by only a handful of sides outside the top six. Their unbeaten start to the campaign ended last weekend with a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea, and they now face an Arsenal side unbeaten in five matches across all competitions.

Everton team news

Everton have no fresh injury concerns, with David Moyes able to select a fully fit squad for the trip to north London. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is expected to make way after a difficult run of form, having been at fault for goals against both Hull City and Chelsea before being substituted after 55 minutes in the defeat by Chelsea. Jake O’Brien is in line to come in for his first Premier League start of the season in Maitland-Niles’s place, with the rest of the backline expected to stay the same.

James Garner and Harrison Armstrong are set to continue as Moyes’s central midfield pairing. Christian Nørgaard, who made his first appearance for the club after recovering from a groin injury, is expected to feature from the bench again rather than start. Merlin Röhl is also set to be retained in the attacking midfield three after both Brennan Johnson and Tyrique George struggled to make an impact as replacements against Chelsea, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry completing Everton’s attack.

Everton predicted lineup

Everton possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Garner, Armstrong; Rohl, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Barry
