Everton are planning on beating Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of £27million rated Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman was one of the bright sparks in what was a disappointing campaign for the Magpies last season, and is attracting attention from a number of clubs, who want to take him back to the top flight of English football.
Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have been mostly linked with making a move for the 25-year old, with the Ronald Koemans side planning on beating their North London counterparts for the player valued at £27million by Newcastle.
Newcastle are still awaiting offers for the midfielder who moved from PSV Eindhoven last summer and went on to score 11 goals, despite the clubs relegation to the Championship.
Both clubs believe that an asking price of £27million is too steep, however Everton could ask for Tim Krul to be included as part of a deal as they seek the addition of a new goalkeeper.
