Everton make Vardy ‘number one target’

Everton have made Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy their number one transfer target according to reports.

The Toffees have had a truly disastrous season, and despite sitting in mid table, they are almost as close to the relegation as they are to seventh placed Burnley.

Saturdays defeat to defeat to Burnley saw the fans turn on manager Sam Allardyce, and has even left some wondering if the club were too quick to sack Ronald Koeman back in October.

However, according to the Sunday Mirror, they plan to solve their problems by signing Jamie Vardy in the summer.

The striker has enjoyed a fantastic few seasons for the Foxes, including leading the line as Leicester claimed the most unlikely of Premier League titles back in 2016. Since then, he has continued to fire the goals, including 13 in the league this season, more than the likes of Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Alexandre Lacazette.

The report claims that the 31-year-old would jump at a chance to move to Merseyside where he would get a hefty pay rise in line with top-earners like Wayne Rooney who picks up £150,000 a week.

Everton have been chasing a forward all season after failing to land a suitable replacement for Romelu Lukaku. They signed Cenk Tosun for £27 million in the last transfer window, but the Turkish international has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
