Everton are close to sealing the £8.5m signing of Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph.
The England international is set to leave the Etihad this summer having been deemed surplus to requirements by at the Premier League champions, with the 29-year-old making just eight league starts for Pep Guardiola’s side last season.
Delph has just 12 months remaining on his contract at City, and the club are ready to sanction the sale of the former Aston Villa midfielder, having secured the £62.8m club-record signing of Atletico Madrid’s Rodri.
According to the Independent, Everton are now close to finalising an £8.5m deal that will take Delph to Goodison Park. Capable of playing in midfield and at left-back, the 20-cap international will bring experience and versatility to Marco Silva’s squad.
Delph will become Everton’s third first-team signing of the summer, as Silva looks to build a squad capable of challenging the Premier League’s top six.
Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl has already arrived on a free transfer to provide competition and back-up for Jordan Pickford, whilst Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes has joined in a £22m deal following his impressive loan spell on Merseyside last season.
