It is a particularly positive time for English football, with six Premier League side’s still in Europe’s top competitions.
While Man City, Liverpool, Spurs and Man Utd learned their fates earlier today after making it through to the Champions League last eight, attentions quickly turned to the Europa League, where Chelsea and Arsenal also secured their progress last night.
Maurizio Sarri’s side breezed through to the quarter finals with a resounding 8-0 aggregate victory over Dynamo Kiev, with Olivier Giroud netting a hat-trick in their second leg, 5-0 win in the Ukraine.
Arsenal also progressed after they overcame a 3-1 first-leg deficit to beat French side Rennes 4-3 on aggregate.
However, there are plenty of other big hitters left, including Spanish duo Villarreal and Valencia, as well as last season’s Serie A runners up Napoli, who were of course managed by the now Chelsea boss, Sarri.
