Erling Haaland is fit to play for Manchester City against Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.
The striker was an injury concern for the game after limping out of Norway’s 2-1 defeat to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.
City manager Enzo Maresca, however, says Haaland will be ready to go against Liverpool after spending a few days recovering in the sun in Marbella.
Erling Haaland injury update ahead of Liverpool vs Man City
“He’s good, he went to Marbella, two or three days off, played golf, recovery. Ready for Anfield, he is good,” the Italian said at his pre-match press conference.
“It was good [to see him], the players are thinking: international teams, some days off and go again. He was good.”
City’s trip to Anfield on Sunday will be their first match since an independent commission found them guilty of all charges of breaking the top-flight’s financial rules. They were also found guilty of the majority of charges relating to their failure to cooperate with the investigation.
Asked if Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias, as vice captain and captain, can help to carry the dressing room, Maresca responded: “They need to help their teammates and they are doing that.
“But again I understand that you want to hear or listen to different words from me, but the real words is that the players, the noise is there but they are 20, 25 years old, they enjoy their training, they go home happy, they are top of the league, so they are relaxed. They are just thinking about how to beat Liverpool and hopefully we are going to try.”
