Erik ten Hag has said he is confident that Rasmus Hojlund will score goals for Manchester United as the summer signing awaits his first league goal for the club.
Hojlund has failed to score in six Premier League games since signing from Atalanta in a deal worth £72m during the summer, though has impressed in Europe with three goals in two Champions League games.
United return to Champions League action against Hojlund’s former club, Copenhagen, this week and Ten Hag has backed the 20-year-old to find his form at Old Trafford.
“He’s always playing in scoring positions in our team and I’m confident [he will score goals], as well for Marcus Rashford the same,” Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference.
“In every game when we do what we have to do as a team we always get in scoring positions and then it’s about finishing. When you analyse all the games so far we have seen it.”
On Hojlund facing his old side, Ten Hag said: “You know it’s a special game for him, he grew up there at this club and you know he will be highly motivated.”
Anthony Martial has returned to fitness and came on as a substitute during the win at Sheffield United at the weekend. Ten Hag said he has not ruled out the prospect of Martial and Hojlund working in partnership for his side.
“It’s possible they can play together. So far we haven’t done that in games but I can see that they can play together because Martial is also able to play from the side.”
