Dortmund insist Klopp will get no favours in Bellingham race despite ‘good relationship’

Borussia Dortmund have insisted that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will get no favours in the race for Jude Bellingham, despite a ‘good relationship’ with the club’s former manager. Liverpool are among the clubs interested in a deal to sign Bellingham next summer, as Europe’s top sides prepare proposals for the England midfielder. The teenager’s valuation is increasing following a strong World Cup with the national side, with Bellingham having scored his first international goal during England’s 6-2 win over Iran.

He has started each of the Three Lions’ fixtures in Qatar and has been an integral part of progress to the last 16 for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Dortmund – who value the Birmingham-born midfielder at almost £130 million – are expecting to receive significant interest in Bellingham next summer, with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City all credited with an interest in the 19-year-old.

Liverpool are also understood to be in the race, but Dortmund’s managing director, Carsten Cramer, has insisted that the German club’s former boss Klopp will get no favours from his old side as he looks to bring Bellingham to Anfield.

“We have a high sympathy for Liverpool for sure,” Cramer said, as per the Times. “We are still in a good relationship with Jürgen and many others at Liverpool, so for me, it’s my preferred club in the EPL as well. But don’t expect that we will make gifts to Liverpool.”
