Dimitar Berbatov has tipped Manchester City to win the Premier League title, while the Bulgarian believes that his former side Manchester United will once again miss out on a top-four finish.
Berbatov has been giving his predictions ahead of the Premier League‘s opening fixtures next weekend, the 38-year-old believing Liverpool will once again be the nearest challengers to reigning champions, Man City.
Berbatov reckons his former club Tottenham will finish third, and has tipped Frank Lampard to guide Chelsea to fourth in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge, all of course at the expense of Arsenal and Manchester United.
“Unfortunately, I need to say it, but I think Manchester City will be champions again, then Liverpool. They are the top two,” he said as per the Mirror.
“Then I think Spurs and then Chelsea. I say Chelsea because I saw them play under Frank Lampard and I like his philosophy a lot.
“And then of course you have the usual suspects, Arsenal and Man United.”
Berbatov also named Wolves as a side he enjoyed watching last season, and ahead of the new campaign is hopeful a team can emerge to challenge the Premier League’s top six.
“Hopefully we see someone from the rest of the pack – the other teams who are coming up. For example, Wolves, I enjoyed watching them last season.
“Hopefully there is no fatigue as they are playing in Europe.”
