Chelsea are set to book a medical for Samu Omorodion in Paris today after agreeing a deal to sign the forward from Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea have agreed a £34.5m fee with the Spanish side to sign Omorodion, who is currently representing Spain at the 2024 Olympic football tournament in France.
Representatives from the West London side will travel to Paris to complete the medical assessments for the 20-year-old, who is set to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Omorodion impressed on loan at divisional rivals Alaves last season where he scored eight goals in 34 La Liga appearances.
Chelsea have been keen to add competition and cover for Nicolas Jackson at centre-forward and Omorodion is viewed as a player of real potential.
Atletico had initially been reluctant to sell the Spain u-21 international but have decided to cash in on Omorodion to finance transfers for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, having agreed an £82m fee for the latter with the Premier League champions.
Diego Simeone’s side have also signed ex-Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal. The Norwegian scored 23 league goals last season to finish as runner-up for the Pichichi Trophy as La Liga’s leading scorer.
