Chelsea defender a target for Palace as Eagles eye Guehi replacement

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea amid interest in Marc Guehi from Newcastle.

Newcastle have made an approach to sign Guehi, who impressed for England at this summer’s European Championship as the Three Lions reached the final.

Palace have shortlisted Chalobah as a potential replacement for the 24-year-old, with the former free to leave Chelsea this summer. Chalobah is currently training with the development squad in West London having been left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The 25-year-old has been reluctant to leave Chelsea but the club’s stance on his future could lead to an exit in search of regular first-team football. He is valued at around £25m by Chelsea and is one of two names on Palace’s centre-back shortlist according to The Telegraph, alongside Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix.

Palace are also exploring a potential move to bring Wilfried Zaha back to the club for a third spell. The winger departed last summer to sign for Galatasaray on a free transfer and won the Turkish Süper Lig in 2023-24, but struggled for an automatic role and made 17 of his 30 league appearances from the bench.

The academy graduate scored 90 goals in 458 appearances for the Eagles across his previous two stints and would add to a forward line that has lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer.
