Manchester United are close to completing their first signing of the summer, as Daniel James conducts his medical ahead of a move from Swansea City.

A deal to take James to Old Trafford has been speculated for a number of weeks now, although there has been limited progress in finalising a deal until the last few days.

There have been reports that AS Monaco and Leeds have shown an interest in signing the winger who has just one year left on his contract at the Liberty Stadium, but it now appears that a move to Manchester United is all but done.

The winger has been spotted arriving at United’s Carrington training ground, with a number of sources saying that he will undergo a medical before completing a deal, with reports suggesting that the 13 time Premier League winners have agreed a deal worth £18 million for the Wales international.

It is thought that United will pay £15m up front, with the other £3m being payable in add ons.

The 21-year-old is somewhat of a late bloomer, having only made his senior professional debut in the 2017/18 campaign, but has sharply risen to prominence for the Swans this season, making 33 appearances in the Championship.

He had been training with Ryan Giggs’ Wales slide ahead of their European Championship fixtures against Croatia and Hungary, but has been given permission to make the short journey from their training camp in Chester to Manchester to complete his transfer before jetting off to Croatia with the rest of his international teammates.
