Manchester United goal keeper David De Gea is close to agreeing a new mega money five year contract that will see him stay at Old Trafford as he enters the prime years of his career.
Reports earlier this week suggested that new Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui was eager to bring the talented shot stopper to the Bernabeu after working with him at international level, and Los Blancos President Florentino Perez was confident that a bid of £100 million would finally land the player he has coveted for so long.
Although he only has one year left on his current contract, negotiation are said to be at an advanced stage, and he is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal imminently.
De Gea joined United in 2011 from boyhood club Atletico Madrid and despite initially struggling to adapt to English football, he has blossomed in one of the World’s top ‘keepers.
The Spain international has been so impressive between the sticks in recent years that he has won United’s Player of The Year award in four of the last five seasons. To say Red Devil’s fans will be delighted by this news would be an understatement to say the least.
