Daniel Ek set to launch improved bid to buy Arsenal

Daniel Ek is set to launch an improved bid to buy Arsenal as the Spotify co-founder looks to take control of the north London side.

The Swedish billionaire has made public his desire to purchase the Gunners and is a self-professed long-term fan of the club, with Ek seeing an initial offer of around £1.8billion rejected by the current ownership, Kroenke Sports Enterprises (KSE), last month.

The Kroenke family have come under increasing pressure to sell their majority share following the fall-out regarding the European Super League proposal, though have insisted they have no intention of relinquishing their holding in the Gunners despite Ek’s interest.

That stance has not dissuaded Ek however, with the Mail reporting that the Swede is preparing an improved offer – north of £2billion – in a second attempt to persuade Stan Kroenke into a sale.

Ek has enlisted the help of Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira in his bid to buy the club and is hopeful the increased offer will tempt the Kroenke family, who apparently insisted they ‘didn’t need the money’ following the previous bid.

Ek’s interest has been welcomed by fans after the 38-year-old revealed his offer included fan ownership, representation at board level and a golden share for supporters.
