Crystal Palace will aim to recover from their recent loss to Tottenham as they welcome Hoffenheim to Selhurst Park for Thursday’s Europa League fixture.

The Eagles are going through a difficult spell, having claimed only one win in their previous five games in all competitions. Under Pierre Sage, they sit 18th in the Premier League following a 2-0 defeat away to Tottenham and a 2-0 home loss to Newcastle. Europe, however, has offered some comfort: Palace beat Fulham 1-0 in the Carabao Cup and earned a respectable 2-2 draw at Beşiktaş, leaving them 15th in the Europa League table.

Crystal Palace team news

Palace arrive for this European encounter with an uncertain injury situation, though Sage has received a major lift in attack. Leading forward Jean-Philippe Mateta is available to spearhead the side, since the red card he received in the league match against Tottenham applies only domestically and does not affect his European eligibility.

The treatment room, though, remains crowded at Selhurst Park. Winger Ismaïla Sarr is definitely unavailable as he continues his recovery from a groin strain, while defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is out with an ongoing calf issue and centre-back Chadi Riad is still absent because of a knee injury.

Late assessments will decide whether Jörgen Strand Larsen, struggling with an ankle problem, and Quinten Timber, dealing with a hamstring concern, are fit enough to be named among the substitutes.

Former Bundesliga players Daichi Kamada and Chris Richards are anticipated to feature in the starting lineup against their old club.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup

Possible starting XI: Henderson; Canvot, Disasi, Richards; Khalaili, Wharton, Doucoure, Chilwell; Pino, Nketiah; Mateta

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 5:45pm BST on Thursday, 5th November.
