Coventry City host Fulham at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday afternoon, looking to bounce back from a defeat that ended their first winning run of the season.
Frank Lampard’s side are 18th in the Premier League with six points from seven games, one point above Saturday’s visitors. Monday’s 3-1 defeat at Tottenham snapped a two-match winning run, with Jack Rudoni’s goal briefly bringing Coventry level before Spurs pulled away. Five of Coventry’s last six home games have produced over 3.5 goals, a statistic that points to an open contest at the CBS Arena on Saturday.
Coventry City team news
Coventry remain without four players through injury. Haji Wright and Aurele Amenda are both sidelined, Luke Woolfenden is out with a knee problem, and Josh Eccles is unavailable with an ankle issue after an earlier calf injury had cleared. Lampard also found encouragement in aspects of the Tottenham performance, despite his frustration at the manner of the decisive second goal.
Lampard could make a couple of changes to the side beaten at Tottenham, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Ephron Mason-Clark both strong candidates to come into the attack. Frank Onyeka has featured as a substitute in each of the last two league games and could be handed a start in central midfield alongside captain Matt Grimes, with Caleb Yirenkyi potentially dropping to the bench as a result. Jack Rudoni is expected to continue in an advanced midfield role after scoring at Tottenham.
Coventry City predicted lineup
Coventry City possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Rushworth; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Pinnock, Dasilva; Grimes, Onyeka; Thomas-Asante, Rudoni, Mason-Clark; Awoniyi
