Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be one of the big movers in this summer’s transfer window, and he has now responded to speculation surrounding his future.
Courtois has just one year remaining on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and despite him saying that he is happy at the club, the Blues have been unable to tie the Belgian down to a new contract.
The ‘keepers reluctance to sign an improved deal has reportedly seen Chelsea abandon their hope or keeping him at the club, and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are now looking at cashing in.
He has been a long-term target of European champions Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez looking to add a Galactico signing between the sticks – especially since he has drawn a blank in his attempts to sign David de Gea from Manchester United.
Meanwhile, following the incredible errors made in the Champions League final by Loris Karius, Liverpool are also on the lookout for a new number one, and have also been linked with having an interest in Courtois.
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, the 25-year-old insists he will not let it affect his performances at the World Cup in Russia this summer:
“I think I proved at Chelsea the last two months that I don’t care about speculation,” he said.
“I said what had to be said on that terms. I’m now focused on the World Cup. I think my performances proved that.”
Real Madrid are currently the favourites to land the Belgians signature.
