Conte says he is proud of Chelsea players despite Barca loss

Chelsea were eliminated from this season’s Champions League last night after slipping to a 3-0 defeat to a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona.

The scoreline was not necessarily a fair reflection of the game with the Blues the better team for large periods, although their failure to take any of their chances and a series of individual errors would cost Antonio Conte’s side.

Messi was in sublime form netting his 99th and 100th Champions League goals, as well as laying on a beautiful assist for Ousmane Dembele.

After the game Chelsea’s manager Conte revealed that he did not feel his team deserved to lose and insisted he was proud of his players performance.

“We didn’t deserve to lose 3-0”

“We were a bit unlucky.”

“I think we created many chances but we didn’t take them.

“I must be very proud about my players – they gave everything and we have to continue in this way, with this will to fight and desire to fight together.” Conte said.
