Colombia and tournament newcomers Uzbekistan will begin their World Cup campaign with a Group K match on Thursday at Mexico City Stadium.Â
Colombia arrives with strong momentum. They finished third in a competitive South American qualifying group but had a slight dip in March, losing friendly matches against Croatia and France.
Nestor Lorenzo’s side responded well in June, beating Costa Rica 3–1 and then securing a comfortable 2–0 win over Jordan to close their preparations.
They are in Group K in the FIFA World Cup along with Uzbekistan, Portugal, and DR Congo.
