Arsenal and Chelsea target Victor Osimhen, of Napoli.

Chelsea willing to meet Osimhen release clause

Chelsea are willing to meet Victor Osimhen’s release clause at Napoli as the club look to sign an elite centre-forward this summer.

Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season and is a transfer target for several leading clubs, with Chelsea among the frontrunners to land the 25-year-old.

The Nigeria international scored 67 goals in 119 games for Napoli and has a release clause in his contract with the Italian champions. That figure is understood to be around €130m (£111m) and Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed Chelsea are willing to meet that figure.

The west Londoners will ‘soon’ approach Napoli to discuss a payment structure as the Blues look to remain compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, after record-breaking spending in recent windows.

Chelsea’s eagerness to open negotiations comes amid potential rival interest from Paris Saint-Germain, after it was announced Kylian Mbappe will leave the Parc des Princes in the summer.

Osimhen features prominently on PSG’s list of replacements for the France captain, while Arsenal have also been linked with signing the striker in recent months.
