Chelsea are weighing up a move for Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa as the club search for a long-term number one.
Xabi Alonso is keen to address concerns in goal with neither Robert Sanchez nor Filip Jorgensen having convinced at Chelsea. Jorgensen is expected to leave this summer after struggling for regular football in West London.
Porto captain Costa has been a long-standing target for Chelsea and other Premier League clubs. The Portugal international is recognised as one of the best goalkeepers outside of Europe’s major leagues, and won a third Primeira Liga title with Porto last season.
The 26-year-old is currently with Portugal at the World Cup, where his club side will hope Costa can increase his potential value with an impressive tournament.
Porto currently value their captain at around €60m (£51.8m) and Chelsea are contemplating an approach.
Portuguese outlet Record are reporting that the Blues are one of several top teams interested in Costa, with Paris Saint-Germain also keeping an eye on the situation.
