Chelsea are interested in signing Ajax star David Neres, despite the club’s two-window transfer ban.
The 22-year-old has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s top clubs after a fine season for the Dutch side, with the likes of Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal all monitoring the forward.
Chelsea‘s recruitment plans are currently on hold after FIFA upheld the club’s two-window transfer ban for breaking the rules regarding the signing of U18 players, though the club will appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and have made tentative plans for the summer window.
According to the Independent, those plans include a move for Neres, with Chelsea having missed out on top target Luka Jovic to Real Madrid.
Neres has been an impressive performer for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, with the wide player having scoring 12 goals in all competitions for Ajax who secured a league and cup double.
The Brazilian’s form also saw him recognised internationally, earning a first call-up to the national side earlier this year.
The Dutch champions are determined not to lose the majority of their young side which reached the Champions League semi-finals this season, and would demand a fee in the region of £40m for the player.
