Chelsea are ready to reignite their interest in Gonzalo Higuain and are prepared to offer Alvaro Morata in exchange to secure the deal.
Maurizio Sarri was linked with a move for the forward during the summer, before Higuain opted to join AC Milan on a season-long loan having being squeezed out of Juventus by the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
With current options Morata and Olivier Giroud failing to fire on a regular basis, Sarri is keen for a reunion with Higuain after previously managing the Argentinian during his time in charge of Napoli.
Sportmediaset are reporting Sarri has now told the Chelsea hierarchy to pursue a move for the 31-year-old, and the Italian is willing to offer the misfiring Morata in a potential swap deal.
The Spaniard has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge for a then-record £57m from Real Madrid in 2017, scoring just 16 league goals in 45 Premier League appearances.
The 26-year-old previously played in Serie A at Juventus between 2014-2016, and may be keen on a return to Italy with Sarri having grown frustrated with his inconsistent displays.
