Chelsea have apparently emerged as the ‘frontrunners’ to sign Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell.
Frank Lampard’s side are already making recruitment plans ahead of the conclusion of the club’s transfer ban, with Chelsea currently halfway through a two-window ban imposed by FIFA.
Lampard is believed to want to bolster his defensive options and is keen on a move for England international Chilwell, the club viewing the 22-year-old as a long-term solution at left-back.
The club are hopeful of being given the green light to resume transfer activity in January, and could push for a move for Chilwell as soon as the winter window should they be cleared to make signings.

Chelsea are currently awaiting an appeal date from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, as they bid to overturn or reduce their punishment.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are now likely to turn their attentions to signing a central defender, following the development of Oleksander Zinchenko and summer signing of Angelino at left-back.
Chilwell is unlikely to come cheap for any potential suitors, having signed a new long-term deal at Leicester until 2024 a year ago.
