Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has revealed that he cleared a mental block last weekend when he scored during his sides 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Morata joined Chelsea for a club record £58 million last summer and although he started the season well he began to struggle for form and fitness the longer it went on, finishing his maiden campaign in the English football with 15 goals in 48 appearances.
The 25-year-old Spain international looked devoid of confidence during the Blues opening two games of the season, but after finding the net against Arsenal last weekend he is hopeful that he can now kick on and show his best form this season.
“Yes, when the ball goes into the net everything changes. My mind is not blocked anymore and I hope now I can score lots of goals.’’ He told Chelsea’s official website.
“It’s not been a good period for me over the last year. I missed a penalty in a friendly game and seemed like it was the final of the Champions League.
“But I always feel the support and love of Chelsea supporters and it’s very important for me to keep working and fighting. It’s very important for me to do my best and I keep working to improve and I think this year will be better.
