Chelsea set their price for Willian

While he is currently showcasing his talents over in Russia on the pitch, off the pitch and closer to home, there seems to be a battle brewing for Chelsea winger, Willian.

While Chelsea’s league campaign ended weeks ago with that disappointing fifth placed finish in the Premier League, Willian’s season continues, with him playing a starring role for Brazil in this summer’s World Cup, playing until the 91st minute of Monday’s last 16 victory over Mexico.

While Willian is focussing solely on his football with the national team, back home, he is attracting the attentions of some of Europes biggest clubs, namely Manchester United and more recently, Barcelona.

He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since Jose Mourinho took over at the 20 time Premier League Champions back in 2016, with the Portuguese manager known to have been impressed from having worked with him during his fateful second spell at Stamford Bridge.

However more recent reports have suggested that La Liga Champions Barcelona have entered the race for his services, and have even had a bid of £50 million (€56m) knocked back.

Willian has always maintained that he is happy at Chelsea, but has previously singled out Real Madrid and Barcelona as clubs he ‘dreams’ to play for.

Now, with interest increasing in their player, who turns 30 next month, Chelsea have reportedly set their asking price at a whopping €80 million (£71.4m), according to Catalan based publication Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims that while Barcelona are aware that it is a hefty fee to pay for an ageing player, they could partly fund a move by offloading his fellow compatriot Paulinho, with suggestions someone could be willing to pay €50m for the former Spurs flop – €10m more than Barca paid for him just last summer.
