Chelsea have today confirmed the signing of highly rated midfielder Jorginho for £57 million from Napoli.
The Brazilian born Italy international had looked all set to join Pep Guardiola at Man City this summer, but he has instead chosen to link up with new Chelsea boss and a man he worked brilliantly with in Naples, Maurizio Sarri.
26-year-old Jorginho has won rave reviews for his classy midfield performances in both Serie A and the Champions League in recent seasons, and he has even been compared to legendary Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo in some quarters.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website he admitted he is delighted to be moving to Stamford Bridge:
“I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy. I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.”
