Chelsea set to rival Man United for Kingsley Coman signature

Chelsea are prepared to rival Manchester United for the signing of Kingsley Coman, with the Premier League duo considering making approaches for the Bayern Munich star.

Coman’s future at the Bundesliga champions has become uncertain as the winger approaches the final two years of his contract this summer, a failure to agree on an extension potentially leading to Bayern cashing in on the star whilst his value remains high.

The France international has starred for the Bavarians in recent seasons and scored the winning goal in last season’s Champions League final win over Paris Saint-Germain, starting just 16 times in the league this season amid competition for places from Serge Gnabry and summer signing Leroy Sane.

Those appearances have yielded three goals and a hugely impressive 10 assists, and Chelsea are now understood to be monitoring the player given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Christian Pulisic.

According to the Daily Mail, Pulisic could attract interest from clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool this summer, with the US international yet to start a game under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old has found himself as a peripheral figure under the new Chelsea head coach and Coman is viewed as an ideal replacement should Pulisic depart, the west London side having held a long-standing interest in the Frenchman.

Coman has enjoyed an incredible career to date with 23 major honours – including nine league titles – to his name already and could be tempted by a move to the Premier League after enjoying success in France, Italy and Germany.

Manchester United are also understood to be keen as the club look to solve their problem position on the right-hand side, whilst Manchester City have been credited as admirers of the 24-year-old previously.
