Frank Lampard is hoping that N’Golo Kante will be able to ‘integrate’ himself into Chelsea training ‘next week’ as he continues his comeback from injury.
The midfield suffered a hamstring injury in the final weeks of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, and while he managed to regain enough fitness to complete 90 minutes in the Europa League final win over Arsenal, he was not deemed fit enough for any of France’s internationals over the summer.
Speaking after Saturday’s 4-0 win over League of Ireland side St. Patricks, recently appointed Chelsea boss gave an update on the fitness of the World Cup winner, saying that he is hopeful that he can step up his return to fitness next week when the team travel to Japan for the next phase of their pre-season preparations.
“He’s been training on his own with the physios this week because he’s still feeling the effects of his injury from the end of last season and we just want to be careful with him,” Lampard told the media.
“It’s not a big problem. We know he’s a fit boy and he has a great attitude so the last thing we want to do is push him too early. Hopefully next week in Japan we’ll start to integrate him into the group.”
It’s been a hell of a few years for N’Golo Kante❗️
