Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has verbally agreed terms to join Atletico Madrid after turning down interest from two Premier League clubs.
Gallagher’s contract at Chelsea expires next summer and the Blues gave the midfielder an ultimatum to sign a new deal or leave this summer.
The 24-year-old has snubbed the proposal of an extended contract at Chelsea in favour of a transfer and has now agreed terms over a €40m move to Atletico.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Gallagher has accepted a five-year deal with the Spanish side, where he will become just the second Englishman to have represented the club after Kieran Trippier.
It has been revealed that Gallagher has rejected offers from two unnamed Premier League clubs in favour of the move to La Liga. Tottenham Hotspur had been heavily linked with the England international, while Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham have also been credited with interest in signing Gallagher.
