Chelsea join race for Arsenal and Man United target Zirkzee

Chelsea have joined the race to sign reported Arsenal and Manchester United transfer target Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee is attracting interest from the Premier League after an excellent season at Bologna, with the Dutch forward having scored 10 goals in all competitions.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks at Bayern Munich before joining Bologna in search of regular first-team football and has been backed to make the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024 after impressing in Serie A this season.

Zirkzee – who has scored seven goals in 19 caps for the Dutch at u-21 level – ranks sixth in the division for goals, fourth for shots and shots on target, and eighth for successful take-ons.

Arsenal and Manchester United have each been linked with signing the 6ft 4in forward, and TeamTalk are reporting that Chelsea are now considering an approach. Each of the Premier League sides want to sign a centre-forward in the summer and Zirkzee features on the striker shortlist for the trio.

Bologna signed Zirkzee from Bayern Munich 18 months ago for a fee of €8.5 million, and the German champions inserted a 35% sell-on clause on any profit made on the player.
