Chelsea and Inter Milan reportedly remain £10m apart in their valuation of Romelu Lukaku as negotiations continue over a deal for the Belgium international.
Chelsea want to re-sign their former forward this summer and have seen an opening offer of £85m plus defender Marcos Alonso rejected by the Italian champions, who look set to demand a record-breaking fee for the star.
According to the Independent, the west London side are prepared to pay up to £120m – a deal that would represent a Premier League record – to sign the 28-year-old, with ‘a difference of around £10m in the positions’ of the two sides.
They say that personal terms worth £250,000-a-week have already been agreed, with Lukaku ‘excited’ to return to Stamford Bridge.
The report says that Lukaku believes he has ‘unfinished business’ with the Blues, having made just 15 goalless appearances after signing for Chelsea from Anderlecht as a teenager.
Inter Milan need to reduce their wage bill given the financial impact of the ongoing pandemic on the club’s Suning owners and have already sanctioned the €60m sale of Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Nerazzurri will be reluctant to lose Lukaku unless a huge offer is submitted however, with the forward having enjoyed the best period of his career since moving to Italy from Manchester United.
Lukaku has scored 64 goals in just 95 appearances since making the switch to the San Siro and was named as Serie A’s Most Valuable Player after firing Inter to a drought-breaking title success last season.
He spent time on loan with West Brom and Everton during his time at Stamford Bridge, before signing for the latter on a permanent basis in a £28m deal in 2014.
