‘Chelsea finished if they lose Hazard’ – says former Blues striker

Chelsea are in serious trouble if they don’t manage to hold onto their star attacker Eden Hazard reckons former Blues striker Chris Sutton.

Hazard has been stalling on signing a new Chelsea contract for the best part of a year now, with the Belgium international rumoured to be keen on a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Stamford Bridge outfit slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Premier League Champions Manchester City earlier today in the Community Shield, with the Blues looking devoid of any real attacking spark without Hazard in their starting XI.

‘If they let Hazard go they are finished.’ Sutton told BT Sport.

Rio Ferdinand agreed with Sutton and suggested that Chelsea need not only to keep their talisman Hazard, but also Thibaut Courtois, Willian, and N’Golo Kante, who have all been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge before the end of the transfer window.

‘[Sarri] has got to keep hold of Courtois, Willian, Kante and Hazard.

‘Can Chelsea do it? They need to because those players could them afloat in the Premier League.’ Ferdinand added.

Hazard is due back to Chelsea training tomorrow after having an extended holiday due to his run to the World Cup semi-final with Belgium this summer.

Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign away to Huddersfield on 11 August.
