It has been a busy morning at Chelsea with the Stamford Bridge outfit announcing that Maurizio Sarri will become the clubs new manager and that he will joined in London by highly rated £57 million midfielder Jorginho.
26-year-old Jorginho has won rave reviews for his classy midfield performances in both Serie A and the Champions League in recent seasons, and he has even been compared to legendary Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo in some quarters.
He was one of the key components in Sarri’s Napoli side that despite collecting an impressive 91 points last season, were unable snatch the Scudetto away from Juventus.
Chelsea had to beat off competition from Premier League Champions Manchester City to sign Italy international, and speaking to Chelsea’s official website, club Director Marina Granovskaia revealed that she was delighted he chose to move to Stamford Bridge:
“We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea.
“He was one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe and will become an important member of the playing squad. He has demonstrated his quality working under Maurizio Sarri and we are convinced his signing will help bring further success to Stamford Bridge.”
