Cech and Schmeichel in the frame to replace Real Madrid bound Courtois at Chelsea

Chelsea are eyeing up potential moves for Petr Cech and Kasper Schmeichel as they prepare to replace Thibaut Courtois.

Yesterday seemed to be a huge day for Chelsea, with news emerging that Courtois is close to moving to Real Madrid, while Eden Hazard has a ‘verbal agreement’ to also join the European Champions.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of goalkeepers as potential replacements for Courtois, and are already thought to have made a bid for Roma’s Alisson Becker.

However, the Brazilian ‘keeper is in demand this summer, and is also the subject of interest from Liverpool, who yesterday launched a £62 million move for his services, with the player reportedly open to making a move to Anfield.

Now, according to Sky Sports, Chelsea have identified Petr Cech and Kasper Schmeichel as alternatives to replace the Belgium number 1.

Cech is of course already a Chelsea legend after spending 11 years at Stamford Bridge before joining Arsenal having been displaced by Courtois as the Blues’ first choice ‘keeper in 2015. He is now seemingly set to be relegated to number 2 at the Emirates though, after Unai Emery brought in Bernd Leno, and could be set for a move back to his former club.

Another man on Chelsea’s radar is Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. The Leicester no.1 was first linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge last month after his superb displays for Denmark at the World Cup, and it seems like he is still a player interesting the Blues.
