Celtic will aim to respond to their first Premiership setback of the campaign when they travel to face Motherwell on Sunday, in their final fixture before players head off on international duty.
The Hoops had made a perfect start domestically, winning their opening six league games. That run featured emphatic results against Aberdeen and Kilmarnock, but they arrive at this match in poor form after suffering three straight defeats in all competitions. Rangers knocked them out of the League Cup with a 3-0 victory, Ferencváros beat them 3-1 in the Champions League league phase, and Rangers then edged them 1-0 in the Premiership immediately before the international break.
Celtic team news
Martin O’Neill is likely to change his approach, moving Celtic back to a conventional 4-2-3-1 setup with a regular back four after the experiment with three centre-backs failed against Rangers.
There is encouraging news on the fitness front, as Jota has resumed full training following his lengthy knee problem and could be involved in the matchday group.
Even so, Celtic remain without several important players. Alistair Johnston is still out with a hamstring injury, as are Callum Osmand with an ankle problem and Yang Hyun-jun with a hamstring issue, meaning Colby Donovan should continue at right-back. Cameron Carter-Vickers will be assessed closer to kick-off because of a fitness concern.
O’Neill also has a doubt over Benjamin Nygren, with the Swedish winger a major question mark to start after picking up a virus while away on international duty.
Celtic predicted lineup
Possible Celtic starting XI: Sinisalo; Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Tierney; McGregor, Baur; Hassan, Tounekti, Duran; Hogh
When will the match kick off?
The match will kick off at 12pm BST on Sunday, 11th October.
