Celtic captain Brown labels loan signing Burke as ‘quickest’ ever teammate

Scott Brown impressed by the pure speed of Oliver Burke since joining Celtic on loan in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old joined the Hoops on loan from West Bromwich Albion last month until the end of the season, making an instant impact in the Scottish Premiership by scoring three goals in four league appearances.

It is Burke’s fleet of foot that has most impressed his captain however, with Scott Brown dubbing the forward as the fastest player with whom he has ever shared a dressing room.

“Oliver Burke is by far the quickest that I’ve played with,” Brown told celticfc.net.

“He knows nine times out of ten he’s going to beat anyone for pace and Scotty was in the right place as well.”

That pace is a useful weapon for Celtic, added Brown.

“People won’t keep a high line because of his pace. With our forwards, we have pace everywhere in Ollie, Scotty (Sinclair), James (Forrest) and Timo (Weah). We have pace all over the park and if scares people more than anything.

“If people want to press the game we have that long pass in-behind that Ollie, Timo, James and Scotty can take up and run through on goal.”
