Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City’s vulnerability at set pieces should provide “encouragement” for the rest of the Premier League this season.
City were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad on Saturday, after allowing substitute Lucas Moura to head home Erik Lamela’s corner with his first touch since coming off the bench.
Carragher believes Tottenham’s exploitation of Man City’s “Achilles’ heel” at set pieces should offer encouragement to the rest of the division, though the Sky Sports pundit admits stopping the Premier League champions remains a difficult proposition.
“The encouragement for other teams is Man City look like they have a slight problem at set pieces and it isn’t just what happened at the weekend,” Carragher explained on Monday Night Football .
“Teams like Tottenham are exploiting it. That is the one area where they do look like they have an Achilles’ heel.
“The problem for teams is getting a corner in the first place because they are that good.”
