Burnley manager Sean Dyche has defended his players and accused Liverpool of ‘cheating’ following their 3-1 defeat at Turf Moor.
Jack Cork opened the scoring for the hosts before James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri goals turned the game in Liverpool’s favour.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was critical post-match of the referee’s protection of his players, with Joe Gomez stretchered off following a challenge from Ben Mee.
Dyche, however, was quick to praise his team and take a dig at Klopp’s side for alleged ‘cheating.’
“I watched Liverpool as a kid, I was a Liverpool fan growing up in the 70s, and when I grew up watching them, they had a fantastic side, of skill, will demand and a physical edge.’’ Dyche told his post match press conference.
“Now if that’s gone and been replaced by cheating, I’m absolutely happy to be old fashioned.
“There’s no way I’d want to not see good proper professionals challenging in the manner that ours did last night, and replace it with cheating.”
