Bellamy: Pogba is going ‘backwards’ as a player

Craig Bellamy has said that Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is going ‘backwards’ as a player.

The Frenchman has come under criticism for his performances during Manchester United‘s disappointing campaign so far, with the midfielder enduring a difficult relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

Pogba failed to impress as he returned to the United starting line-up for Wednesday night’s 2-1 Champions League defeat in Valencia.

The 25-year-old, United’s record-signing at £89m, had been dropped by Mourinho for the club’s past two league fixtures and has been linked in the press with a return to former club Juventus.

Former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Bellamy, speaking on Sky Sports The Debate says Pogba’s performances are not improving.

He said: “We get reminded that Pogba won the World Cup every time we talk about him, but for a player that is used to playing in big games, he doesn’t look like he’s improving, he’s going backwards.”
