Bayern Munich will aim to preserve their unbeaten beginning to the Bundesliga season when they welcome Union Berlin in their final league match before the upcoming international break on Friday.

The Bavarian giants have made a highly encouraging start to their Bundesliga campaign, collecting seven points from their first three games. Vincent Kompany’s side began the season with an emphatic 5-1 victory against VfB Stuttgart before being held to a goalless draw during their difficult away trip to Schalke 04.

Bayern then returned to winning ways in their most recent outing, claiming a narrow but valuable 2-1 victory away from home against SV Elversberg. They currently occupy fourth place in the table and will be confident of moving to the top with another positive result.

Bayern Munich team news

Bayern Munich head into the meeting with Union Berlin in excellent condition from an injury perspective, leaving manager Vincent Kompany with plenty of options when selecting his team and planning his tactics.

The biggest boost for the hosts is the expected return of Serge Gnabry. The winger has recovered from an adductor problem and is ready to make his first competitive appearance of the new season.

Luis Díaz has also impressed during training this week, demonstrating excellent fitness and putting himself in line to start the match.

Bayern’s squad is otherwise almost fully available, with young central defender Tarek Buchmann the only notable long-term absentee as he continues to recover from surgery.

With so much depth at his disposal, Kompany’s team will be strong favourites to dominate possession and dictate the pace at home.
