Bayern Munich vs Arsenal – Predicted lineup and team news

Bayern Munich host Arsenal on Wednesday without the suspended Michael Olise and the injured Jamal Musiala, and with head coach Vincent Kompany ill.

Bayern have not lost a Champions League home match in the group stage or league phase since December 2013, a run of 39 matches. They beat RB Leipzig 6-1 on Saturday after drawing 3-3 at Viking, where Olise was sent off. Arsenal have won 14 successive league-phase matches and are the only side yet to concede in this season’s competition.

Bayern Munich team news

Olise is suspended after his dismissal at Viking, and Musiala is out with a thigh tear suffered on international duty, with around another week to go. Manuel Neuer is back in training but remains a doubt after missing Bayern’s last two games with a foot problem, with Jonas Urbig his deputy. Kompany has a viral infection that has affected his legs, and assistant coach Aaron Danks took Tuesday’s press conference in his place. Danks said he might need up to three more days to recover and that “getting Vince to rest is a challenge”. Joshua Kimmich missed training on Tuesday for personal reasons, though he is expected to be available.

Lennart Karl is favoured to replace Olise on the right, with Ismael Saibari again in the number 10 role Musiala would normally occupy. Luis Díaz is expected on the left and Harry Kane to lead the line, with Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic in midfield. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah are the likely centre-back pairing, with Konrad Laimer at right-back and Alphonso Davies on the left.

Bayern Munich possible starting XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Davies; Pavlovic, Kimmich; Karl, Saibari, Díaz; Kane
